STEEL STRONG MASSACHUSETTS

On June 17, our fabricator members gathered at the Massachusetts State House to advocate for the passage of Massachusetts Senate Bill 2167 and House Bill 3411, legislation that would require publicly funded projects using fabricated structural steel to source from domestic fabricators.

Participants met with legislators and staff to highlight the importance of Buy America requirements in supporting domestic manufacturing, sustaining skilled jobs, strengthening regional supply chains, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are reinvested in local communities. Legislators in both houses spoke in support of passage.

Our industry leaders in New England discussed the challenges posed by imported fabricated structural steel and emphasized the role Buy America policies can play in maintaining a competitive environment for domestic fabricators. If enacted, Massachusetts would join more than 20 states that have adopted or are considering similar requirements.
